On 23 February 1911 the Danish pharmacist Carl Gustav Adolf Rasmussen (1882-1939) moved to Isafjordur with his family and opened a pharmacy at Polgata 1. He lived in this small village, located in the northwest part of Iceland, with his family for nine years but in July 1920 they boarded the ship Sterling and sailed to Denmark. Rasmussen owned a camera and took many photos, mainly of his family but also of his surrounding in Isafjordur. His photographic plates are now preserved at Isafjordur's Photo Archive.
